Laundry Soap Bar
Laundry Soap Bar is a natural soap to use in laundry soap recipes or as a stain stick.
This bar is great for the camper or backpacker. Bring just this one bar with you and you can clean your clothes, dishes and your body. It might be a bit drying for your body, but it will get you clean. Just shave a couple of silvers off the bar and stir in water until dissolved. Swish your clothes or dishes in the soapy water and rinse.
I bring a small bar with me on vacation to be able to hand wash clothes in the hotel sink.
Laundry Detergent recipe:
1 cup of borax – the brand that is available in most stores is 20 Mule Team®
1 cup of washing soda – the brand that is available in most stores is Arm and Hammer®
- Grate the Laundry Soap Bar with a cheese grater. I like to make this finer by leaving the grated soap on a cookie sheet to dry for a couple of days. Then put into a coffee grinder or food processor.
- Mix with the borax and washing soda.
- Use 0.5 -1 Tbsp per load (or 2 Tbsp for large or heavily soiled loads).
Note about septic tanks:
This is the best soap to use with septic tanks because it contains zero phosphates and zero fillers that cause commercial powder detergents to clog lines.
